Dear Neighbor,
There are actually three definitions for the word neighbor in the dictionary:
1. a person who lives near another.
2. a person or thing that is near another.
3. one's fellow human being
Those of us on who work, live and play in the Third Street neighborhood fit all those definitions. For the past 26 years, The Orlando hotel has had the pleasure of meeting a wide range of neighbors – from restaurateurs to florists, from bakers to baristas as well as the people who chose to make their homes in the tree lined streets around us.
What brings us together is our appreciation for what makes this very walkable neighborhood in a city of cars so special.
As The Orlando embarks on its third decade in Los Angeles, we are celebrating our renewal – from

new guest rooms and public spaces to a brand new, exciting restaurant concept. But we know that what really makes us so unique is the story of the people and places that make up our neighborhood. The hotel is committed to sharing with our guests from all over the world those "back stories" of the gathering spots and the entrepreneurs all around us. We're confident that when we send guests your way or if you should see them strolling by, the exchanges you share will demonstrate to them why our love affair with Third Street is as strong as ever.
This newsletter was created to help keep the conversation going among all of us. Please enjoy the news and we look forward to crossing paths soon!

Sincerely,
Tohnia Miller
Managing Director

Hotel Update

We're almost there – our renovation schedule is on course to be completed with all of the hotel interiors by the end of August but here is a "sneak peek" at the look of our new rooms.
Specifically, the multi-million dollar renovation means new guest rooms for the property - bigger bathrooms with marble accents; high-tech, two-bedroom suites; refurbished pool area and landscaping; updated fitness center and massage room; all new lighting, signage, elevator interiors as well as completely new roof, air conditioning and plumbing; enhanced space for small meetings and an all-new street-facing restaurant.

The operators behind our new restaurant are the owners of another very popular eatery -- the Hudson in West L.A. -- and we expect this restaurant to be just as successful. With our neighbors in mind, we have worked hard to use sound construction materials with state of the art sound barriers and to also create a valet parking plan that is unobtrusive and seamless.

In celebration of these exciting new changes at the hotel, we would like to invite each of you in the 90048 zip code to become members of our NEIGHBORS ONLY VIP club who will be entitled to the following benefits:
Special discounted hotel room rate of $169.00 a night, based on Space Availability
10% off weekday meals our new restaurant
Don't forget that most of our retail neighbors on Third Street also offer neighbors – like Polkadots & Moonbeams, Traveler's Bookcase and D.L. Rhein, along with many others– also offer a 10% discount to Third Street area residents.
Great News! The Churchill and The Orlando have agreed to pave the alley the entire length between Orlando and Sweetzer. We will keep you posted with as much notice as possible as to when this will take place and how it will impact the alley for the short time it is under repairs. More to come….
